Projects
I propose solutions beyond my assigned tasks: incremental or disruptive, as needed, but organised and controlled. A compiler completed in one man-year replaced a rewrite estimated at tens of man-years. My tools transformed critical interbank code with no transformation-related defects detected. My Unix automation made our team a benchmark for audits. Every project I initiated and led achieved its objectives.
These software products are developed under the InZeMobile brand.
Across these products, I lead the conception, architecture and development, using AI assistance for implementation and managing code generation, version control and integration.
2025 - present • IziBuddy - InZeMobile
IziBuddy takes an unusual approach to prompt management: POO²L, a deterministic, object-oriented declarative language I designed for prompts, with no embedded algorithms. Implementation: frontend in HTML/CSS/JS, REST backend in Python. (link)
2019 - present • InZeWishBox - InZeMobile
A motivation app: children — or students, athletes, colleagues — earn points and choose their own reward from a catalog you define, through an adjustable 4-level trust system; end-to-end encrypted. Built with Kotlin Multiplatform and a native UI per platform (Jetpack Compose on Android, React/Kotlin-JS on the web), with the backend reduced to an end-to-end-encrypted WebSocket relay on Cloudflare Workers. An innovative no-code IDE, based on Harpoon (a concept first imagined in 1996), a Petri net based OO programming language, and Trident, a highly flexible GUI builder, frontend in HTML/CSS/JS, REST backend in Python. (link)
2026 - present • InZeDoku - InZeMobile
A ground-up reinvention of Sudoku: one logic engine driving three modes — Sudoku, Calcudoku and the colour-mixing Colodoku — across five board geometries (square up to 26×26, hexagon, triangle, mosaic and Voronoï). Every grid is generated on the device, fully offline, on Android and the web, and free for classroom use. (link)
2025 - present • IziPlantin - InZeMobile
An internal tool for now: an end-to-end publishing chain that turns working and finalized manuscripts into EPUB, PDF, web and print-ready formats simultaneously in under 3 minutes. It serves equally to write books for publishing and manuals for software. Built with Python, Hugo, WeasyPrint, ebooklib, Mermaid, Kroki, etc.
2021 - 2025 • ArnoHR
Using Jira, Confluence and TFS, I maintained and extended an MFC/C++ front end. I also worked on a module translating queries from an in-house interpreted language into SQL WHERE clauses, including the expansion of parameterised functions.
2016 - 2020 • OptimoDE
In an environment using Perforce, Swarm, CMake etc..., I performed tasks to fix bugs, added functionalities and optimized the code generated by the OptimoDE compiler, in the areas of memory mapping, syntax flow graph transformations, optimizations, etc.
2013 - 2016 • Web Information System for Healthcare - IBM
I performed maintenance and customer support of the back-end (in RPG) of a web application, as well as development of new modules. (link)
2004 - 2013 • AIX Servers management + Developments - IBM
For several customers, I performed the maintenance of their servers. I also developed, in the framework of existing internal manual tools, the automation of daily checks to ensure that the servers are kept up-to-date, keeping track of what was performed during which intervention. Consultations of data were performed on intranet web sites in php I developed. This saved our lives several times during audits. I also developed for the team a tool allowing distributed execution of commands on a variety of heterogeneous devices.
2002 - 2003 • Product Lifecycle Management (mostly in the aerospace industry) - IBM
Among other projects, the main one was about development of a tool enforcing security in the engineering process of avionic parts, both to avoid human errors and to ensure that people follow duly these processes.
2001 - 2002 • Settlement of foreign currency exchanges between banks worldwide - IBM
Besides maintaining and supporting several modules, my main contribution was to convince the management to develop a set of tools to carry out the required source-code cleanup safely. This was a highly critical task (the application server processes up to 3 million transactions for more than $5 trillion daily). All existing tests passed, and no defects attributable to the code transformations were detected. Read Michel’s testimonial. 2001 - 2002 • Website for a public institution - IBM
I took over a heavily loss-making €2 million project, rebuilt the schedule with the team and negotiated additional staffing to get it back on track. With two months remaining, when I could no longer maintain the team’s momentum, I requested my own replacement and spent a month handing over to help bring the project to completion. The project finished with a modest profit.
1997 - 2000 • Tarification and billing server for Belgian hospitals - IBM
Maintenance and clean up of this application. My pride in this project is that I convinced the management to develop a compiler to migrate the application to another environment. Indeed, they intended to rewrite it from scratch, which would have required tens of man-years for development and testing. My approach was to translate the source code to another programming language supporting the new environment. It took one man-year as expected, saving much time and money. It was a complete success.
After the migration was put on hold, Philippe later used the compiler to translate the updated application without needing my assistance. Read his testimonial. The documentation covered the remaining manual steps, deliberately retained because automating them would have cost more than completing them.

Maintenance and clean up of a home made 4th generation language engine. Related support of the other developers. I also supported them for C++ related issues, for the SeleCT (link).

Development of the first ever Macintosh White Pages CD-ROM for Belgacom, using C/C++, Powerplant and all the libraries used on the TOP 30000 project below (the libraries’ reusable design meant that almost 100% of the source code was common to the previous project)

Development of the first ever Macintosh TOP-30000 CD-ROM for Roularta, using C/C++, Powerplant, with a special focus on reusability of the source code (both cross-platform Mac/Win CD-ROM optimized DB, and Mac GUI libraries).
1994 - 1995 • Agence France Presse - RTL Informatique
Prior to the widespread use of internet, the AFP needed a private network among their worldwide offices in Paris, NewYork and Hong Kong. My role in this project was the development of an indexed image database and a search engine using Fulcrum on Unix.
1994 - 1995 • Hippodrome de Vincennes - RTL Informatique
Using a network of Macintosh computers, the developed software managed the live broadcasting of overlaid information on television channels of France Television (France 2 and France 3), on an on-site giant screen, and on an internal network of televisions in the hippodrome.
